An Open Letter to the Residents of Capistrano Unified

Sacramento has proven itself to be an unqualified disaster at budgeting as revenues to Capistrano Unified continue to decline year over year.  Every dollar received should be treasured that much more.  Sadly Capistrano Unified has proven itself equally unqualified in terms of budgeting and cries of fiscal incompetence abound.  Recent examples include the out of court settlements intended to benefit select campaign supporters and Capistrano Unified hiring not less than 652 attorneys in the past year alone.

We have lost sight of the fact that proper use of taxpayer dollars and education of our children are the primary purposes of Capistrano Unified.  Focus on these two points brings a third benefit: sustainable property values.  Misuse of taxpayer money and poor educational choices for our children make neighborhoods less attractive, creating another justification for already declining home prices.

We can not continue with the status quo.  Please join me in working to return focus to Capistrano Unified, working in the best interests of taxpayers, children and homeowners.

I would be honored to receive your vote and support.

Sincerely,

John Alpay
